Atletico Madrid midfielder Koke will reportedly be the subject of a bid from La Liga rivals Barcelona over the coming months.
According to talkSPORT, sources in Spain suggest that the 22-year-old is being lined up as a possible replacement for veteran playmaker Xavi, whose future with the Catalan giants is in doubt.
The Blaugrana were rumoured to be eyeing a move for Koke last summer, but saw the opportunity to sign Luis Suarez from Liverpool for £75m and used most of their transfer budget as a result.
Barca's attempts to sign the player this time may be more difficult given that Atleti have since awarded the midfielder a new contract, which came with a £55m buyout clause attached.
However, it is understood that Spanish champions' financial situation may see them sell one of their prized assets and Barcelona could face competition from Manchester City, who are thought to be keen on bolstering their midfield options.
