Barcelona are reportedly considering a summer move for Sporting Gijon centre-back Jorge Mere.
The 20-year-old, who has helped Spain Under-21s make the final of the Under-21 European Championships this summer, has a £13m release clause inserted into his contract at Gijon.
The defender started 31 of his team's 38 La Liga matches last season, but could not prevent Los Rojiblancos from being relegated to the Segunda Division.
It is understood that Mere will leave Gijon in this summer's transfer window, and according to El Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona are considering activating the centre-back's release clause after being impressed with his development.
Mere joined his current club from Oviedo at the age of 13.
