Barcelona are reportedly still looking to complete a deal for Alvaro Morata before the end of the month.

The Spain international is believed to have emerged as a leading target for Barcelona boss Xavi, but the deal is complicated, as Morata is currently on loan at Juventus from Atletico Madrid.

Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri has insisted that the Spaniard will not be leaving the club this month to complete a move to Camp Nou amid the ongoing speculation.

However, according to AS, Barcelona chiefs are working to sign the 29-year-old before the end of the January window.

The report claims that Xavi has been in direct contact with Morata to discuss a switch to Camp Nou, but the Catalan giants face a battle to secure his signature in the coming weeks.

The forward has been in impressive form for Juventus during the 2021-22 campaign, scoring seven times and contributing three assists in 24 appearances in all competitions.
