Barcelona have reportedly suffered a blow in their bid to sign Borussia Dortmund defender Thomas Meunier in the January transfer window.
The Catalan giants are looking to sign a new right-back, and Meunier is regarded as a possible option after Barcelona attempted to sign the Belgium international in the summer.
However, according to Sport, Barcelona have suffered a setback in their bid to sign Meunier due to the club's financial situation and Dortmund's intention to keep the full-back until the summer.
Barcelona president Joan Laporta has already indicated that completing the January signing could prove difficult due to LaLiga's salary regulations.
Meanwhile, Dortmund are keen to keep Meunier in January, but they may be open to selling him in the summer with his contract set to run until June 2024.
Barcelona are also allegedly considering Villarreal right-back Juan Foyth, who is likely to command a €42m (£36.1m) asking price, while Meunier is believed to be available for around €6m (£5.2m).
Meunier has played 73 times for Dortmund, chipping in with three goals and eight assists. body check tags ::
