Girona forward Cristhian Stuani has revealed that Barcelona wanted to sign him in the January transfer window.
Stuani is enjoying a fine campaign for his Catalan club, scoring 14 times in 23 appearances in all competitions.
Barca were searching for a new forward in January and ultimately signed Kevin-Prince Boateng on loan for the remainder of the season to act as back-up to Luis Suarez.
Stuani has claimed that the Spanish champions wanted to acquire him last month, but the 32-year-old ultimately penned a new contract with the club that he joined from Middlesbrough in July 2017.
"There was interest from Barcelona [in January]," Stuani told RAC1. "It was a proud moment for me, to have a club like Barcelona interested in signing me, but I'm also very happy about penning a new deal at Girona."
Stuani's overall record for Girona stands at an impressive 35 goals in 56 appearances in all competitions.
