Andres Iniesta says that "good news is coming soon", amid recent suggestions that he is planning on quitting Barcelona at the end of the campaign.

Long-serving Barcelona midfielder Andres Iniesta has promised supporters that "good news is coming soon" regarding his contract situation.

The 33-year-old has repeatedly confessed to being unsure whether he will stick around at Camp Nou beyond the end of the season, at which point his current deal is due to expire.

President Josep Maria Bartomeu recently attempted to play down concerns that the Spain international could be on his way out of the club, however, and Iniesta has himself suggested that he is staying put.

"I think the good news is coming soon," he told beIN Sports when asked for an update on his uncertain future.

Iniesta played 80 minutes of Barca's 1-0 win over Sporting Lisbon in the Champions League on Wednesday night - a result that he was happy with, despite the slender nature of the scoreline.

"It's the Champions League - the matches away from home are always difficult and this has been one more example," he added. "I think [Sporting] have great players in midfield, they attack well, they combine well.

"We have tried to counter it in the best way we could and we have done it to a great extent. In general terms, we have played a fairly complete game."

Lionel Messi is another who has yet to officially put pen to paper on a new deal in Catalonia, but Barca are confident of reaching an agreement soon.
