Leeds United are reportedly in pole position to sign Red Bull Salzburg midfielder Brenden Aaronson this summer.
The 21-year-old USA international has been a standout performer for the Austrian outfit this season, scoring five goals and registering 10 assists in 35 appearances across all competitions.
The Whites were strongly linked with a move to sign Aaronson in January, and now Football Insider reports that talks are underway between both clubs over a potential summer transfer.
The report adds that Leeds have identified Aaronson as their number one target and they have been encouraged by the midfielder's desire to move to Elland Road.
In addition, the American is understood to have no release clause in his contract, which expires in June 2025, and he could be available for a fee between £21m and £25m.
Leeds head coach Jesse Marsch was the man who handed Aaronson his Salzburg debut in January 2021 when the midfielder arrived from MLS side Philadelphia Union.
The West Yorkshire outfit have also been linked with Aaronson's international teammate and Barcelona full-back Sergino Dest ahead of this summer's transfer window. body check tags ::
