Lionel Messi has reportedly told Barcelona that he will sign a new contract with the club as long as he can retain a get-out clause at the end of every season.
The 32-year-old - by far Barca's all-time leading scorer - still has 18 months remaining on his current contract at Camp Nou but talks are thought to be ongoing over an extension.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Messi has agreed to extend his deal by one further season every year "plus one more indefinitely but reserving the option to cancel unilaterally every June 30."
The Argentine has spent his entire senior career with the La Liga giants and last month insisted that he would not be leaving any time soon.
"The people at the club know me," he told reporters after winning his sixth Ballon d'Or. "They know there's no problem beyond what the contract says. What I feel for this club goes beyond any signature or any role, so there isn't a problem."
Barca president Josep Maria Bartomeu is believed to have previously offered Messi a lifetime contract at the club.
