Los Angeles Galaxy reportedly recently enquired over the availability of Barcelona attacker Lionel Messi.
The Argentina international's future at Camp Nou has been under the microscope, having being involved in a public row with Barca's director of football Eric Abidal.
The attacker also allegedly has a clause in his contract that allows him to leave Barca on a free transfer at the end of any season if he wishes.
According to Radio Continental, Galaxy head coach Guillermo Barros Schelotto recently contacted Messi's father to determine whether the 32-year-old would be interested in a move to the MLS.
However, the North American club learned that the forward wanted to remain in Catalonia.
Messi has again been in impressive form for the Spanish champions this season, scoring 19 times and contributing 16 assists in 27 appearances in all competitions.
Galaxy ultimately signed former Manchester United forward Javier Hernandez last month as a replacement for Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who returned to Italy with AC Milan.
