Miralem Pjanic reportedly agreed to a 60% pay cut at Barcelona before being shipped out to Besiktas on loan.

After starting just six La Liga games under Ronald Koeman in the 2020-21 season, Pjanic was widely expected to secure a move away in the summer transfer window.

With the Super Lig transfer window open until September 8, Pjanic secured a temporary move to Besiktas on Thursday, but the deal does not include an option or obligation to buy.

According to RAC1, Pjanic agreed to decrease his Barcelona salary by 60% before jetting off to Turkey, with Besiktas set to fork out €2.7m (£2.3m) of his wages for the 2021-22 season.

The report adds that the former Juventus man will be deemed a more sellable asset by Joan Laporta following his salary reduction, and the Blaugrana hope to offload him permanently next year.

Pjanic made a total of 30 appearances for La Blaugrana last term and remains contracted to Koeman's side until 2024.
