Unai Emery has admitted that Paris Saint-Germain are looking to recruit 'one of the five best players' in world football, amid links with a move for Barcelona forward Neymar.
The Parisians are reportedly willing to buy out the Brazil international's Camp Nou contract, despite being warned off by Barca who insist that he will not be going anywhere.
Neymar is not the only high-profile name to have been linked with PSG this summer, as Alexis Sanchez and Kylian Mbappe have also been touted as possible signings on the back of a disappointing campaign for the club last time out.
Speaking to reporters in the United States, Emery revealed that the French side are on the search for a superstar arrival in the remaining weeks of the window.
"If PSG want to rival Bayern [Munich], Real [Madrid] and Barcelona, we need a player in the top five in the world," he said. "Since he joined Barcelona, Neymar has progressed a lot. I witnessed this while with Sevilla. Now, he is among the world's top five. The president and the club have been working for the past few years on bringing in the best players.
"The team, but also the fans, would be happy to boast a player in the top five, six or seven in the world on top of the strong players we already have here. After that, this quest is not over. Perhaps he will arrive, perhaps not. Sanchez and Mbappe are also fantastic players. Moreover, Mbappe is French. I want French players at a French club."
Thiago Silva confessed this week that he is keen to see international teammate Neymar join him at the Parc des Princes ahead of the new campaign.
