Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly rejected Barcelona's opening offer for Brazil attacker Neymar.
The speculation surrounding the 27-year-old's future continues to gather pace, with Barca and Real Madrid said to be battling to sign him before the end of the Spanish transfer window.
According to Marca, the Spanish champions made an offer to PSG which would have seen Neymar join on loan this month with the view to a €150m (£137m) permanent switch next summer.
However, the report claims that the French champions rejected the bid as they would want a future purchase price of €250m (£228m) to be included in any potential loan deal.
Neymar - also linked with Juventus - is said to be prepared to accept a huge pay cut in order to secure a return to Camp Nou before the transfer window closes on September 2.
The South American has scored 51 times in 58 appearances for his current club in all competitions, although he has not represented the French giants in the early stages of the new season amid the speculation surrounding his future.
