Barcelona boss Ronald Koeman has revealed that the club are exploring the possibility of signing a new centre-forward before this summer's transfer window closes for business.
Lionel Messi's departure has left the club short of attacking options, as Ansu Fati, Ousmane Dembele and Sergio Aguero are all currently on the sidelines through injury.
Barcelona's financial problems mean that they will struggle to bring in any more players before the deadline, but Koeman has said that the club are keen to acquire a new striker.
"Seeing all the positions of the team we lack people in front. Ansu, Dembele, Aguero are missing. We lack there and that is why we have talked about the possibility of signing a forward to have more players and more competition. It all depends on whether we can sign," Koeman told reporters.
Memphis Depay has now been registered ahead of the new season, and the Netherlands international is expected to make his debut for the club against Real Sociedad on Sunday.
Antoine Griezmann has been linked with a move away from Camp Nou this summer but looks set to remain at the club despite his substantial wages.
