Paris Saint-Germain defender Thiago Silva has admitted that it was difficult to reject Barcelona in the summer.
The Catalan giants made a second attempt at signing the Brazil international from PSG, but were ultimately unsuccessful.
"It was tough to say no twice to Barcelona," the 28-year-old told The Guardian. "It's no secret that I've adored the club since I was a kid and that I've always wanted to play for them.
"But life is made up of decisions that sometimes fly in the face of your dreams. I heard people saying I was just thinking of the money, but they forget we have families to feed.
"Why would I accept to earn less money to play for Barcelona? Why are players the ones supposed to sacrifice themselves? Besides, PSG offered me also an opportunity for a new challenge and the club are trailing the right path."
Silva joined PSG from AC Milan in 2012.
