Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde has confirmed that his club are in the market for a new left-back.
The Spanish champions have been linked with the likes of Bayern Munich's David Alaba and Real Betis's Junior Firpo this summer amid suggestions that the team are keen to add competition for Jordi Alba.
Valverde has conceded that his side "had some problems" at left-back during the 2018-19 campaign and as a result, a new player could arrive in that area of the field before the transfer window slams shut.
"It is true that last season we had some problems in the left back area," Valverde told Mundo Deportivo. "It is possible that a new player could join us in that area, and we are prepared to wait until the last day of the transfer window if we have to."
Earlier this week, it was reported that Barca had made a £24m bid for Betis defender Firpo with the view to completing a summer deal.
The Catalan giants will continue their preparations for the 2019-20 campaign with a friendly against Japanese side Vissel Kobe on Saturday.
