Xavi has insisted that he is "happy" with his decision to remain with Barcelona last summer.
It seemed that the veteran midfielder was likely to leave the Camp Nou, with the Middle East or the MLS potential destinations.
However, the 35-year-old eventually opted to remain with his boyhood club, where he has remained a key player.
"I recently turned 35 and I'm not in my prime any more. Still, I'm happy and I believe I was right to stay. Like I've said before, I did consider leaving the club, but I'm enjoying still being here and I'm fine with my new role," he told Catalunya Radio.
"I was raised a certain way at Barca and I'm really pleased to play my part."
Xavi has scored one goal in his 16 La Liga appearances this season.
