Barcelona boss Xavi has asked Barcelona to re-sign Lionel Messi.

The Argentinie left Camp Nou last summer on a free transfer due to the club's financial issues, and although he went on to join PSG, Messi continues to be linked with a return to Barcelona.

Despite scoring 11 goals and providing 15 assists in 34 appearances last season, Messi experienced a difficult first season at PSG, although he has started the current campaign with three goals in as many games.

Although he has started the new season with PSG in promising form, Spanish football journalist Guillem Balague believes that Messi's former teammate and now Barcelona head coach Xavi wants to re-sign the Argentina international.

The report indicates that Xavi is looking for players like Bernardo Silva and Messi, who have the ability to play the game in the way that the Barcelona boss envisages.

Although the signing of Silva could be a possibility this summer, the Catalan giants may have to wait until Messi's PSG contract expire next year to sign the 35-year-old. body check tags ::
