Jason Scotland has revealed that he is 'hopeful' of earning a long-term contract at Barnsley, having joined on a free transfer last week.
The former Ipswich Town striker has scored two goals in two games since arriving at Oakwell, but his current contract expires at the end of the season.
"I just want to continue playing well and scoring goals and then see what will happen from there. I will be out of contract at the end of the season, but if I can continue scoring then the gaffer might come knocking on the door," the 33-year-old told reporters.
"As a striker you thrive on scoring goals. Two in two? I can't explain it, but the boys have been doing well. Perhaps they had not been scoring enough but hopefully I can contribute to that and we can now start to climb the league."
Scotland scored the winner in Saturday's 2-1 win over Blackpool.
