Inter lineup vs. Bayern: Predicted XI for Champions League quarter-final second leg

Sports Mole looks at how Inter Milan could line up for their Champions League quarter-final second leg at home Bayern Munich on Wednesday.

Inter Milan manager Simone Inzaghi could revert back to the same side that started the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final with Bayern Munich when they meet for the return leg at San Siro on Wednesday.

After winning 2-1 in Bavaria last week, Inzaghi rested a few players for the Serie A clash with Cagliari on Saturday, keeping some fresh for the visit of Bayern.

Among those who were rested at the weekend were Marcus Thuram, Alessandro Bastoni, Benjamin Pavard, Matteo Darmian and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who at 36, was never going to be asked to play twice in such an important week for the club.

The five aforementioned players are all set to return to the starting XI, but one of the standout players from last week's win is still not assured of a place in the team.

Carlos Augusto was sensational at both ends of the pitch, playing a big role in the opener, before setting up Davide Frattesi for the winner, but with Federico Dimarco back from injury, the Italy international could replace him at left wing-back.

Another defender who will be unfortunate to miss out is Yann Bisseck, who was only on the bench on a return to his homeland last week, but after an excellent display from Inter's back five, there is unlikely going to be a spot for him in the XI.

One man who is certain to start is Lautaro Martinez, who became the first Inter player to hit seven goals in a Champions League season since Samuel Eto'o in 2010-11, and the skipper could become the first Nerazzurri man to score in five straight UCL games if he finds the net again here.

Waiting in the wings if Inter need a goal will be Mehdi Taremi, who returned from injury at the weekend, but Piotr Zielinski (calf) and Denzel Dumfries (hamstring) remain sidelined.

Kristjan Asllani will also be in reserve here after missing the first leg entirely due to suspension, but the tireless work done by Mkhitaryan, Nicolo Barella and Hakan Calhanoglu means he is set for a cameo at some stage.

Inter Milan possible starting lineup:
Sommer; Pavard, Acerbi, Bastoni; Darmian, Barella, Calhanoglu, Mkhitaryan, Dimarco; Martinez, Thuram
