Belgium secure a straightforward 3-1 win over Bosnia-Herzegovina in Thursday evening's Euro 2016 Group B qualifier in Brussels.

Belgium have secured a straightforward 3-1 win over Bosnia-Herzegovina in their Euro 2016 Group B qualifier in Brussels.

Following a cautious start to the game, the visitors were first to register a concrete chance when, in the 11th minute Emir Spahic fired first time from a corner, but the ball flew wide of the right post.

On the quarter-hour mark, however, Bosnia broke the deadlock as Mensur Mujdza's precise lofted pass into the box was nodded home by Edin Dzeko.

The lead lasted just eight minutes as Belgium equalised through Marouane Fellaini, whose header from Kevin De Bruyne's corner sailed past Asmir Begovic.

De Bruyne was then responsible for a spectacular strike on the stroke of half time, controlling a pass with a good first touch and rifling an effort from 30 yards into the bottom corner.

Bosnia threatened after the restart through Dzeko, who connected with a Sead Kolasinac cross, but Thibaut Courtois was able to make the save.

Aside from a tame De Bruyne effort from long range five minutes before the hour, the lion's share of the chances fell to the visitors, but the Chelsea stopper was equal to all they had to throw at him.

Romelu Lukaku was then guilty of missing two gilt-edged chances midway through the second half, first by skewing a chance in front of goal following a pinpoint through-ball, then by failing to connect from the resulting corner.

This mattered little because, in the 78th minute, Toni Sunjic's hack in the box prompted the referee to award Belgium a penalty, which Eden Hazard converted to put his side out of reach.

The result keeps Belgium hot on the heels of group leaders Wales, while Bosnia's hopes of reaching a second successive international tournament look all but over.
