Vincent Kompany's "very stupid" sending-off against Israel has left Belgium with a dilemma ahead of their Euro 2016 qualifier against Wales, according to Nico Claesen.
The Manchester City captain was dismissed for two bookable offences as the Red Devils beat Israel 1-0 on Tuesday to climb above Wales at the top of Group B.
He will be now be suspended when his country resume their campaign in Wales in June, and Claesen, who played for Belgium at the 1986 World Cup in Mexico, believes that his absence leaves them with a big void to fill.
"I hope we can manage to find someone else to replace him," the former Tottenham Hotspur defender told reporters.
"We have to think positive and [coach] Marc Wilmots has to find a solution."
Spurs' Jan Vertonghen, Southampton's on-loan centre-back Toby Alderweireld and Nicolas Lombaerts are alternatives available to Wilmots.
