Real Betis boss Pepe Mel has admitted that he does not expect to sign Jorge Morcillo on loan from Rayo Vallecano this month.
It is understood that Betis want to acquire the centre-back to aid their promotion push from the Segunda Division.
However, Mel does not believe that Rayo boss Paco Jemez is prepared to lose the defender this month.
"Another player isn't coming in and I think that it's best that no more players leave. They haven't sold anyone and Morcillo isn't going anywhere," Mel told reporters.
"I don't know what's going to happen tomorrow or next week. The only way a player from Rayo will leave is if one comes in and we're not optimistic. We're not going to take players away from a team that needs them, I don't think that's ever been considered."
Morcillo was in the Rayo side that lost 3-1 at Atletico Madrid in La Liga on Saturday.
