Birmingham City defender Paul Caddis could face shoulder surgery after he dislocated his shoulder in Tuesday's win over Bolton Wanderers.
Caddis has impressed in the past three matches after replacing fellow injury victim Stephen Carr, but he could now be out of action until Christmas, much to the dismay of manager Lee Clark.
Clark told BBC WM: "I lose who I consider to be the best right-back in the division for looks like being most of the season.
"Then when I get somebody in who looks like more than an adequate replacement, who for the last three games has been exceptional, he gets a problem with his shoulder.
"We are in the process of getting a second opinion, but everything points to him needing surgery and being out for up to three months."
Clark will be forced to find a replacement for Caddis as Birmingham City play Barnsley on Saturday.
