Birmingham City manager Lee Clark has admitted that it was imperative that he strengthen the defensive options at the club during the summer.
The Blues retained their place in the Championship last season despite conceding 74 goals in their 46 games, but Clark is happy with the signings that he has made since last May.
The 41-year-old is quoted by the Birmingham Mail as saying: "Our defensive column, goals against column, was poor. That was one of the reasons why we were where we were.
"We have to rectify that and that's the whole group, myself the manager addressing it and bringing in players who will, too.
"I believe that we have done and I am happy with the defensive options. We have got good competitions in all areas."
Jonathan Grounds, David Edgar, Gavin Gunning and Grant Hall have all moved to St Andrew's.
