Gary Rowett has paid tribute to Clayton Donaldson following Birmingham City's 1-0 victory over Brentford this afternoon.
Donaldson played a key role in securing the points for the hosts at St Andrews as Brentford defender James Tarkowski inadvertently put the ball into his own net while attempting a clearance, and Rowett was impressed by another powerful performance from his striker.
"Clayton Donaldson was brilliant against his old team," the Blues boss told reporters. He has been monumental this season and when we play that lone striking role he plays it as well as anyone. He physically imposes himself on the game and is such a great worker for the team.
"That unselfishness gets him into positions as he displayed with the own goal that won the match."
Birmingham moved up to 13th in the Championship table with the win.
