David Lucas has completed his free transfer to Birmingham City by signing a one-year deal with Blues.
The 34-year-old had been a free agent since the beginning of the month following his release from Rochdale.
He will now compete for the gloves with Jack Butland and Colin Doyle - something that manager Lee Clark believes is a positive thing for his squad.
"I'm delighted to welcome David to the club and he will now compete with Jack and Colin for the number one spot," Clark told the club's official website.
"It's very important for us to always have three senior goalkeepers to call upon because, for example, we could find ourselves without Jack Butland for the Capital One Cup tie against Barnet due to international duty."
Lucas has spent a large part of his career with Preston North End.
