Thomas Ince's deflected effort has given Blackpool a 1-0 half-time lead in their Championship playoff semi-final first leg tie against Birmingham City at Bloomfield Road.
It looked as if the former Premier League pair would enter the break goalless, but Ince's strike on 42 minutes broke the deadlock.
Ince also had the ball in the net after just four minutes, but was in an offside position when he slotted the ball past Colin Doyle.
Long-range efforts from Matt Phillips and Steven Dobbie called the Blues stopper into action, but Doyle was on hand to save well on both occasions.
At the other end, Marlon King came close with a powerful effort from the edge of the area while Nathan Redmond was wasteful when he blazed over from close range.
With the clock winding down, Ince put the Tangerines ahead, but was given a helping hand in doing so.
His left-footed shot from outside the area took a wicked deflection off Birmingham defender Curtis Davies and past a helpless Doyle in the visitors' net.
