Blackpool have imposed a maximum club fine of more than £10,000 on Michael Chopra after he posted an expletive-ridden tweet slamming the club's training policy.
The striker called the Lancashire club's training methods a "joke" in a message that he posted this morning on social media site Twitter.
The 30-year-old's tweet read: "****** joke this come in training only 6 ****** players here then find out the fitness coach taken the football session #joke"
Blackpool released a statement this lunchtime that read: "Chopra was one of number of players asked to report to training as normal this morning for extra work with the fitness coach."
Chopra, who has the right to appeal, has apologised for his actions and deleted the message. However, he will still be fined and the money will go to the club's Community Trust.
"The money will be utilised across a number of projects to improve the lives of young people in Blackpool, through the delivery of health, education and inclusion schemes," added the statement on Blackpool's official website.
Chopra has mainly been limited to substitute appearances this season since joining the Tangerines from Ipswich Town on a free transfer in the summer.
