Lee Clark: 'Taking Blackpool job a bad choice'

Lee Clark admits that taking charge of Blackpool was a "bad career move", but claims that he is now ready to put it behind him and return to management.

Lee Clark has admitted that he regrets his decision to take up the Blackpool job last year, claiming it was simply a "bad career move".

The 43-year-old has been out of work since departing Bloomfield Road in May, having spent less than a full season in charge.

Off-field issues worked against Clark during what was ultimately a short stay at the club, but he is now eager to make a return to management after being given time to reflect on his mixed coaching career to date.

"I am looking to get into my next position," he is quoted as saying by The Huddersfield Daily Examiner. "It's got to be similar to what I had at Huddersfield, which was a project. I went to a big club at Birmingham and loved every minute of it.

"They had great support there. There were certain scenarios I had to deal with and they have been well documented. But I probably made a bad career move going to Blackpool. Hopefully people in the game can see beyond that and I get an opportunity to show what I did at Huddersfield wasn't a one-off.

"I can build a club from top to bottom, make a team with good young players and make a successful team and add value to a club. That's what it is all about. It's a business as well as entertainment."

Clark spent four years in charge of Huddersfield prior to taking on the Birmingham job, where he lasted two seasons between 2012 and 2014.
