Blackpool interim player-manager Barry Ferguson has admitted that he may retire as an active footballer if he is offered the managerial role permanently at the Lancashire club.
The present incumbent for the Seasiders was unable to secure a first victory in 15 games against Ipswich Town yesterday, as the Championship fixture at Portman Road ended in a goalless draw.
Ferguson is reported by the Derby Telegraph as saying: "If I get the job, I really don't think I will be playing.
"People have done both jobs [at the same time], but I don't think I can do it.
"I made the decision not to play and stay on the sidelines, and the squad is becoming strong enough to cope.
Blackpool currently occupy 16th place in the Championship table.
