Blackpool chairman Karl Oyston assures Ian Holloway that he will be at the club next season despite missing out on promotion to the Premier League.

Blackpool chairman Karl Oyston has reassured Ian Holloway that he will remain at the club after the Seasiders missed out on promotion back to the Premier League last weekend.

Blackpool fell to a late Ricardo Vaz Te goal to end their dreams of returning to the top flight for at least another season, after which Holloway appeared to question Oyston's ambition for the club.

Despite this, however, Oyston was in no doubt that Holloway would remain at Bloomfield Road.

"It goes without saying I want Ian Holloway to be the manager and to stay in charge. He has done remarkably well, and he has certainly accepted and worked very well with our style and the way we do things," Oyston told the Blackpool Gazette.

"He is perfect for us in that respect, and conversely we are perfect for him because he gets absolute freedom to express himself and to do what he wants to do, how he wants to do it, without any pressure from us.

"We don't behave like many other clubs, who have talented managers that they don't give time to, or they don't support or allow to have the freedom to manage. I think it is important that people like Ian have absolute freedom to play the game how they want the game played."

Holloway has been in charge at Bloomfield Road since 2009, during which time he has overseen promotion to and relegation from the Premier League.
