Blackpool have handed a trial to American attacking midfielder Freddy Adu.
Once dubbed the best youngster in world football by Pele following his MLS debut at the age of 14, Adu was released by Brazilian side Bahia late last year.
Due to his free agent status, he has linked up with the Seasiders for a trial period and is expected to feature in a friendly encounter today, which interim manager Barry Ferguson will watch.
"Freddy is just over to train and I'm going to have a look at him. That's as far as it goes at the moment. He's not played in two months and he's just come back from Brazil. We'll see how he does in training," Ferguson told the Blackpool Gazette.
Back in 2006, the 24-year-old spent two weeks with Manchester United, who opted against signing the USA international.
