Bolton Wanderers manager Owen Coyle has backed Stuart Holden for "glittering" success despite suffering a fresh injury setback.
The midfielder has been ruled out for six months after cartilage damage was discovered during a check-up on his original long-term injury.
"For Stuart it is a real blow because not only is he an outstanding midfielder for Bolton Wanderers but in the context of the Barclays Premier League," said Coyle.
"But what I said to him the other night was that he will have another ten to 12 years of a glittering career ahead of him.
"He is destined for big, big things and we have just got to help get him through this difficult time."
The American made his competitive comeback after six months out during his side's Carling Cup win over Aston Villa in mid-September before suffering the setback.
