Bolton Wanderers manager Dougie Freedman has backed Mark Davies to return to football "stronger" after the midfielder was ruled out for 10 months.
Davies damaged his anterior cruciate ligament against Peterborough United on Tuesday night, but Freedman has called on Chris Eagles to replace the 25-year-old in Bolton's starting lineup.
Freedman told BBC Sport: "It's a blow for Mark, but he'll come back stronger.
"I believe Chris Eagles can now step up and deliver in that role."
The former Wolverhampton Wanderers player had only signed a new contract at the Reebok Stadium earlier this week.
