Birmingham City have secured a top-10 finish in the Championship after a solitary Robert Tesche goal gave them a 1-0 victory away to Bolton Wanderers.
The Trotters made a bright start at the Macron Stadium, with Blues keeper Darren Randolph needing to be on his mettle to keep out Eidur Gudjohnsen's early effort, moments after Emile Heskey had fired wide.
Adam Le Fondre then missed the target following a precise pass from the Icelandic forward, before Tesche stung the palms of Adam Bogdan with a strike from distance.
Bolton were unable to make their early pressure count as Neil Danns saw another shot saved by Randolph and Heskey headed wide soon after.
However, it was Birmingham who took the lead when a goalmouth scramble saw the ball fall to Tesche, who slotted his effort past Bogdan from close range.
Bolton tried to find an equaliser after the interval with Le Fondre, Heskey and Liam Feeney missing the target.
The Trotters were unable to make their pressure pay as Birmingham held onto their slender lead.
