Bolton Wanderers have taken French striker Sebastien Le Toux on a one-week trial.
The 28-year-old currently plays for MLS side Philadelphia Union.
"We have received good reports about Sebastian, so we thought we would give him an opportunity to come into the group," manager Owen Coyle told talkSPORT. "He will train with us for a week and we will see where we are after that."
Coyle also admitted that the Trotters were close to completing a deal for American defender Tim Ream.
"Tim Ream's a player we would love to get to the football club," he added. "We're certainly closer to concluding the deal, but we accept that we need to apply for a work permit so we won't take anything for granted. We want everything to be in place before we announce the deal."
Bolton, who are currently 19th in the Premier League table, host Liverpool in Saturday's late kickoff.
