Francis Gillot has expressed his delight with Bordeaux's current form in Ligue 1 after their 2-0 win over Saint-Etienne on Sunday.
Having been knocked out of both the Coupe de la Ligue and the Coupe de France, Bordeaux now sit sixth in Ligue 1 following the victory at the Stade Chaban-Delmas, just three points off a spot in the top four.
"It had been a while since we had lost, and then we ruined everything with our first two matches in 2014," Gillot told reporters.
"But we negotiated the match well and now we're not far off the top five, which is where we want to be given that we're out of both cups.
"So it was a good first step to picking up some confidence and doing well in the final three months. We have some injuries but the lads I called on stepped up, even though we have four strikers sidelined, which is hurting us."
Bordeaux next travel to Parc des Princes on Friday night when they face Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain.
