Bournemouth will be attempting to extend a 20-year record when they square off against Fulham in the Premier League this weekend.

The newly-promoted side had been expected to spend the season scrapping for survival, particularly on the back of a 9-0 defeat at Liverpool and the departure of Scott Parker.

However, Gary O'Neil has spearheaded an unforeseen change of fortunes, putting together a five-match unbeaten streak during his stint in caretaker charge.

The Cherries now sit six points clear of the bottom three ahead of an encounter against opponents who they joined in the Championship automatic promotion places during 2021-22.

Although Bournemouth have scored six goals fewer and conceded two strikes more than Saturday's hosts, they currently hold a one-point advantage over the Cottagers in the table.

Furthermore, the South Coast outfit make the trip to West London looking to extend a two-decade run of results against their upcoming opponents in league fixtures.

Not since 1992 have Bournemouth suffered an away league defeat to Fulham with seven matches having been played since April of that year.

Back then, the two clubs were competing in the third tier of English football, highlighting the magnitude of their subsequent rises up the divisions when they went down to the fourth tier before progressing up the English football pyramid.

During that time, Bournemouth have recorded a total of four wins and three draws, the headline results coming in 2015 and 2018 when they netted eight goals across two matches.

The most recent encounter took place in December last year when a late equalsier from Tosin Adarabioyo cancelled out Dominic Solanke's opener just seconds into the second half.

In total, Fulham have emerged victorious in just one of their last 10 matches against Bournemouth.
