Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe questions disallowed goal

Eddie Howe says that Bournemouth are "frustrated" with today's 1-1 draw at home to Ipswich Town.

Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe believes that his side were denied a legitimate goal against Ipswich Town this afternoon.

The Cherries recovered from a goal down to take a point at Dean Court.

Brett Pitman's 74th-minute goal cancelled out Daryl Murphy's second-half opener, but Howe thought that referee Phil Gibbs was wrong to rule out an own goal by Dean Gerken four minutes later.

The 36-year-old said that the fourth official indicated it was a foul on the goalkeeper by Tommy Elphick.

"My initial reaction was I thought it was a goal," Howe told reporters. "At first the referee was pointing to his hand but the only hand used was the keeper and they are allowed to use them. He has told the fourth official it was for a foul so I need to see it again."

He added: "I felt we deserved three points and are disappointed we couldn't force a second goal. Credit to Ipswich for their defending, but we are frustrated.

"Our performance was a really high level and I can't fault the players in any way."

Bournemouth are 16th in the Championship.
