Eddie Howe: 'We lacked quality to punish 10-man Blackpool'

Eddie Howe admits that Bournemouth did not have the adequate ruthlessness to punish 10-man Blackpool in the 2-1 defeat to Paul Ince's men.

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has admitted that his team lacked the quality to capitalise on their numerical advantage in their 2-1 defeat to 10-man Blackpool on Saturday.

The Cherries faced Paul Ince's charges with an extra man for the majority of the second half following the dismissal of defender Jack Robinson on 58 minutes.

"I thought from the sending off onwards we weren't at our best," he told BBC Sport.

"We had the best intentions but we just lacked a little bit of quality and a little bit of tempo in our play.

"Against 10 men you need to up the tempo and you need sustained pressure and we didn't do that."

Meanwhile, summer signing Tokelo Rantie was expected to be named in the matchday squad for the visit of the Tangerines after the South African successfully obtained a UK visa.

Howe added: "He will be landing in England tonight. I have met him and discussed my aspirations for the club with him, and right now I am just looking forward to seeing him play because I feel he can make a difference."

Bournemouth, who sit ninth in England's second-tier competition, host Barnsley in the Championship on Tuesday.
