First-half goals from Glenn Murray and Odion Ighalo ensure that recently-promoted Bournemouth and Watford share a point in their Premier League clash at Dean Court.

First-half goals from Glenn Murray and Odion Ighalo ensured that Bournemouth and Watford shared a point in their Premier League clash this afternoon.

The hosts started the match positively as Murray headed over the bar from a Matt Ritchie cross, before Marc Pugh tested Watford keeper Heurelho Gomes with a low shot after some neat build-up play.

The hosts took a deserved lead on 28 minutes as Ritchie found Murray with a cross before the striker headed past Gomes on his full debut for the Cherries.

Watford were gifted a goal just before half time as Cherries keeper Artur Boruc misplaced a pass straight to Ighalo, who fired past the Polish international to level the scores.

After the break Watford looked the more threatening of the sides, as Ben Watson struck the crossbar with a powerful volley, before Ikechi Anya forced a save from Boruc with a one-on-one opportunity.

Bournemouth came close to taking the lead as Murray headed wide from a Simon Francis cross, before Steve Cook forced a save from Gomes with an overhead kick.

The Cherries were awarded a penalty on 85 minutes when Etienne Capoue brought down Adam Smith in the box, but Murray's spot kick attempt was saved by Gomes, who went the right way to prevent a late Bournemouth winner.
