Newly-promoted Premier League side Bournemouth have readied a bid of £10m to sign Middlesbrough midfielder Marcus Tavernier this summer, according to a report.
The 23-year-old was yet again an important player for Boro during the 2021-22 campaign, scoring five goals and registering as many assists in 44 Championship appearances.
Tavernier's consistency in the engine room stood out again, particularly when Chris Wilder took charge of the club back in November, after which he almost led them to a playoff place in the second tier.
However, Boro face a battle to keep hold of the Englishman this summer according to Football Insider, who report that the Cherries have lined up the midfielder as one of their top targets during the transfer window, which officially opened in England on Friday.
The report suggests that Scott Parker's side have prepared a formal £10m offer for Tavernier, who enters the final 12 months of his contract in the North East this summer.
Boro are already set to cash in on right wing-back Djed Spence in the coming weeks, with him reportedly close to sealing a move to Tottenham Hotspur for around £20m following his impressive loan spell with Nottingham Forest last season.
After coming through the academy at the Championship side, Tavernier has gone on to make 155 appearances for the club across all competitions so far, scoring 18 goals and recording as many assists during that time.
