David Brooks completes his move from Sheffield United to Bournemouth in a deal thought to be worth up to £11.5m.

Bournemouth have completed the signing of Sheffield United midfielder David Brooks, handing the Wales international a four-year deal.

Brooks is said to have cost the Cherries an initial £10.5m, potentially rising to £11.5m if various add-ons are triggered.

The 20-year-old has been capped three times for the Wales senior side after switching allegiance from England at Under-20s level.

Despite enduring a frustrating campaign last time out for the Blades, hampered by a bout of glandular fever, Brooks still scored three times and set up four more in 30 Championship outings, mainly from the bench.

Following the completion of his move to the Vitality Stadium, Brooks told his new club's official website: "The chance to come and play for a club in the Premier League is a great opportunity for myself. I'm delighted to be on board.

"When you look at Eddie Howe as a manager you want to be involved in something like that. He's got big ambitions and with younger players he develops them well and he gives them a chance. That's something I'm looking for and he was one of the main attractions for me to come to Bournemouth."

Bournemouth boss Howe added: "David is a player we have been looking at for a long time. He is technically very good, has huge potential and will fit our philosophy in terms of how we want to play.

"We've seen enough to suggest he is a player who could be outstanding at this level in the future if he develops in the right way and is willing to learn and improve. I believe he has a very exciting future and I'm delighted that future will be here at Bournemouth."

Brooks spent a decade with Manchester City as a youngster before moving to Sheffield United in 2014.
