The first League One Player of the Month award in 2014-15 will go to James Hanson, Conor Hourihane, Chris Humphrey or Reda Johnson.
Bradford City striker Hanson is one of six players in the third tier with four goals to his name at the top of the scoring charts. He also provided two assists in August's five games.
Three goals see Barnsley midfielder Hourihane nominated. The Irishman also made a key goalline clearance that preserved a point in the 1-1 draw at Yeovil Town.
Humphrey starred for Preston North End in the 4-0 win over Scunthorpe United, setting up two and scoring one for the Lilywhites. He also struck a rocket in the draw at Doncaster Rovers.
Finally, centre-back Johnson has impressed in his first month of league football with Coventry City. The powerful defender has taken the Sky Blues' captain's armband and netted twice on the opening day at Bradford.
The winner will be announced on Friday.
