How Brazil could line up against Argentina

Sports Mole looks at how hosts Brazil could line up for their Copa America semi-final showdown with bitter rivals Argentina in Belo Horizonte.

The standout match of the 2019 Copa America so far takes place in the early hours of Wednesday morning when hosts Brazil take on bitter rivals Argentina in Belo Horizonte.

A place in the final of the competition is up for grabs between South America's two most renowned footballing nations, with one of Chile or Peru awaiting the winners in the showpiece event on Sunday.

Brazil have not conceded a single goal in the tournament so far and also go into the match as the leading scorers, despite needing penalties to beat Paraguay after a goalless stalemate in the quarter-finals.

The Selecao have lifted the trophy on every previous occasion that they have hosted the Copa America, and they will be desperate for that 100% success rate to continue following a 12-year drought.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how they could line up for their mouth-watering last-four clash with Argentina.

Out: None
Doubtful: Richarlison (illness), Fernandinho (knee), Filipe Luis (thigh)

Brazil have fitness concerns over three players ahead of this semi-final, with Richarlison, Fernandinho and Filipe Luis all in a race against time to prove that they are ready to start.

Richarlison missed the quarter-final against Paraguay after contracting mumps, but the Everton man's condition has since improved and he is expected to be available on Wednesday having been given the green light to rejoin the squad.

Tite has favoured starting both Roberto Firmino and Gabriel Jesus in the past two games, though, and he could keep faith with the Premier League duo despite drawing blanks last time out.

Fernandinho continues to struggle with the knee injury which has kept him sidelined since the second group game, meaning that Casemiro and Arthur are likely to retain their places in the holding midfield roles.

Filipe Luis was forced off at half time against Paraguay and subsequently missed training at the weekend, leaving Alex Sandro as the most likely starter at left-back.

Dani Alves is the only surviving member of the Brazil team which last faced Argentina in the Copa America, when they beat their great rivals in the 2007 final to claim what remains as their most recent international silverware.
