Brentford have slipped one point behind Leyton Orient at the summit of League One after being held to a 1-1 draw away to Walsall this afternoon.
The Bees needed 30 minutes to edge ahead in the contest as Clayton Donaldson got on the end of a Jake Bidwell cross to smash past goalkeeper Richard O'Donnell.
The strike looked good enough for Mark Warburton's men to boast a narrow advantage at the interval, only for Westcarr to pounce in the closing stages of the half.
The Saddlers were let off the hook for some sloppy defending mid-way through the second half, as Marcello Trotta got on the end of a Donaldson cross but fired over the crossbar from a good position.
It proved the closest either team would come to taking the lead as Warburton's troops slip to second in England's third tier after Orient reclaimed top spot with a 2-1 win away to Crewe Alexandra.
