Brentford have reportedly sent scouts to watch Genoa midfielder Morten Frendrup.
The 23-year-old has made over 100 competitive appearances since he joined Genoa from Brondby in the summer of 2022.
Frendrup has been a regular fixture in the Genoa side this season, having started 12 of the club's 13 Serie A matches.
The Dane netted his first goal of the season in Genoa's recent 2-2 draw against Cagliari, scoring in the 12th minute to cancel out Razvan Marin's opener.
Brentford send scouts to watch Genoa star
According to Tutto Juve, Brentford scouts were in attendance to see Frendrup find the net in the Serie A clash with Cagliari.
The report claims that the Bees have been keeping tabs on Frendrup's progress for over a year, and they could step up their interest when the transfer window opens in January.
Brentford are believed to be willing to submit an offer in excess of €10m (£8.2m) for a player who is under contract until the summer of 2028.
However, Brentford's proposed valuation falls short of Genoa's asking price which is said to be in the region of €20m (£16.6m).
Brentford head coach Thomas Frank is seemingly keen to add strength in depth to his current midfield options which include Vitaly Janelt, Mathias Jensen and Christian Norgaard.
Brentford face competition from Serie A
While the Bees are keen to secure Frendrup's signature, the Genoa man could be presented with the chance to ply his trade with another Serie A side.
AC Milan have sent scouts to report back on the midfielder's performance, while there is also thought to be interest from Juventus.
However, Genoa's asking price could prove to be a stumbling block for the two Serie A giants, although Juventus could fund the move through a potential sale.
There is a suggestion that the Old Lady will step up their interest in Frendrup if they sell Italy international Nicolo Fagioli.
