Brentford winger Sergi Canos has joined Greek giants Olympiacos on loan for the remainder of the season.
The Spaniard has fallen down the pecking order under Thomas Frank in the 2022-23 campaign and has made just six appearances for the Bees across all tournaments.
Furthermore, Canos has not started a single game for Brentford in the Premier League this season, making just five appearances off the bench and also appearing as a late substitute in their FA Cup defeat to West Ham United earlier this month.
Having struggled to displace the likes of Kristoffer Ajer, Mads Roerslev and Bryan Mbeumo on the right-hand side this term, the 25-year-old will spend the rest of the campaign in the Greek Super League.
Canos - who scored Brentford's first-ever Premier League goal in their 2-0 win over Arsenal in August 2021 - is out of contract at the Gtech Community Stadium this summer, but the Bees have an option to extend his stay.
Director of football Phil Giles paid tribute to the former Spain Under-19 international upon confirmation of his exit, telling the official Brentford website: "We would like to wish Sergi all the best for the second half of the season.
"He has not played as many games this season as he would have liked, and this is a great opportunity for him. We are sure Sergi will do very well in Greece and will be as loved there as he is by our fans here.
"He has played an important role in our recent history and produced some very big performances in some very big games. He will always be the player who scored our first Premier League goal.
"He was also a key part of the team when we were making progress in the Championship. He was a young player that developed with us and excited our fans with the way he played and the goals he scored.
"We have the option to extend Sergi's contract in the summer, so it is very possible that we will see him back with us."
Canos represented Barcelona and Liverpool at youth level before joining Brentford from Norwich City in January 2017, and he has registered 36 goals and 33 assists in 249 matches for Frank's side since.
The versatile Spaniard joins Charlie Goode, Tariqe Fosu, Mads Bech Sorensen and Ellery Balcombe in leaving Brentford on loan during the winter window. body check tags ::
