Afternoon all! Sports Mole's live Premier League coverage continues from the Falmer Stadium as Brighton & Hove Albion welcome Everton. Both teams have taken seven points from their seven league matches this season, but 16th-placed Brighton sit one place above Everton in the table. Can the Toffees return to winning ways here? This afternoon will bring the 12th meeting between Brighton and Everton in all competitions. It is actually the first time that they will lock horns since April 1983, when Everton recorded a 2-1 away win. The Toffees have won five of their previous 11 meetings, with Brighton recording just two victories. It will be very interesting to see what type of match occurs this afternoon.

Right, without further ado, let me bring you up-to-speed with the all-important team news from the Falmer Stadium. Both teams have had players away during the international break - has that impacted on the team selection? Let's run through the two XIs that will take to the field here...

Brighton boss Chris Hughton has made three changes to the team that started their 2-0 defeat to Arsenal before the international break. Markus Suttner replaces Gaetan Bong at left-back, while Anthony Knockaert takes the place of Jose Izquierdo in midfield. There is also a change up front as Glenn Murray replaces Izzy Brown, but Israel international Tomer Hemed is still suspended for the Seagulls.

As for Everton, under-fire head coach Ronald Koeman has also made changes to the team that lost at home to Burnley last time out – Wayne Rooney coming in for Oumar Niasse up top, and Mason Holgate and Phil Jagielka replacing Cuco Martina and Ashley Williams at the back. Nikola Vlasic keeps his spot, while Dominic Calvert-Lewin again starts ahead of Kevin Mirallas, Davy Klaassen and Tom Davies.

So there we have it. The two teams are in, and we are now just about 40 minutes from kickoff at the Falmer Stadium. I shall speak about Brighton a little bit later, but let's start with Everton, who have had a tough start to the campaign. Indeed, it is thought that head coach Ronald Koeman could lose his job if the Toffees suffer another defeat to Brighton this afternoon.

Everton opened their 2017-18 Premier League season with a 1-0 win over Stoke City, before picking up a point away to Manchester City one week later. They then lost 2-0 at Chelsea, 3-0 at home to Tottenham Hotspur, and 4-0 at Manchester United as the pressure built on Koeman.

Everton did pick up a massive three points at home to Bournemouth on September 23, but then lost 1-0 at home to Burnley before the international break. As a result, a record of two wins, one draw and four defeats has left the Toffees down in 17th position in the table. They are actually only two points clear of the relegation zone, which is not what the supporters would have had in mind.

Koeman has actually spent more than £200m on new players during his 15 months at the club. The Dutchman brought in nine signings during the summer, and it had been thought that the Merseyside club would challenge for a top-four spot in the Premier League this season. It has been a tough start to the campaign, but a win here would certainly be a step in the right direction.

Worryingly, Everton have only scored four times in their seven league matches this season, with Wayne Rooney netting twice and Oumar Niasse twice. The Toffees have also only collected one point from their two Europa League group matches – losing 3-0 at Atalanta on September 14, before drawing 2-2 at home to Apollon towards the end of last month.

Brighton, meanwhile, can be pleased with their start to the season. Chris Hughton's side opened their 2017-18 campaign with a 2-0 defeat at home to Manchester City, before losing by the same scoreline at Leicester City. They then drew at Watford in their final August match, before recording their first Premier League win on September 9 – a 3-1 victory over West Brom on home soil.

The Seagulls lost 2-1 at Bournemouth on September 15, but returned to winning ways one week later at home to Newcastle United. They lost 2-0 at Arsenal in their last game before the international break, but a return of seven points from seven matches is a decent start for the newly-promoted club.

You sense that home form is going to be very important for Brighton this season, and they have won two of their three league games at the Falmer Stadium – scoring four times and conceding just once. Hughton's side were also very strong at home in the Championship last season – winning 17, drawing three and losing just three of their 23 matches. Kickoff is now just 10 minutes away here!

... it must be said that there is a brilliant atmosphere inside the stadium this afternoon. The home supporters are expecting a strong performance, but can Everton really suffer another defeat?

Suttner picks the pocket of Holgate before looking to find Knockaert, but the ball is just too strong. As expected, Everton are having most of the possession in the early moments, with Brighton looking to counter when possible. In Murray, Brighton have a striker that they can hit from deep areas.

Quite a scrappy game at the moment as both teams are guilty of losing possession in the middle of the park. You do get the feeling that the first goal - if there indeed is one - could be vital this afternoon. Holgate manages to break down the right once again, but his cross is blocked by Suttner.

Brighton are really deep at the moment as Everton continue to force the issue in the final third. We are still waiting on the first half-chance, but the tempo is good as the visitors pass with pace and purpose. Brighton's lone forward Murray could be in for a tough afternoon at the Falmer Stadium.

There is no question that Everton are having more of the ball, but neither goalkeeper has been too concerned in the opening 13 minutes of this match. Still goalless at the Falmer Stadium.

Brighton have a concern over their centre-back Duffy after a collision with his own goalkeeper Ryan, but the defender does return to his feet following a period of treatment. Game on here.

Sigurdsson continues to see plenty of the ball in wide positions, but Everton are struggling to break that final line of defence as Brighton clear their lines time and time again. Still goalless with 17 minutes on the clock, and in truth, the game has not produced too much thus far!

SAVE! The first serious chance of the match falls to Everton as Vlasic finds Gueye just outside the Brighton box, but the midfielder's low effort is saved by Ryan!

Everton are well on top in terms of possession, with Brighton struggling to threaten on the counter-attack. Sigurdsson has struggled to show his best form for Everton since arriving in the summer, but the Iceland international looks in the mood this afternoon as he continues to pick up dangerous positions.

Vlasic continues to pick up possession in wide areas, but Brighton are defending their lines pretty well at the moment. A counter for the hosts sees Gross feed Murray, but the striker loses possession before fouling Schneiderlin. Everton with another set piece inside the Brighton half here.

Murray just cannot get in the game for Brighton as the striker is ruled offside once again. Everton are very much in control of proceedings with 28 minutes on the clock, but the score is till 0-0.

Better from the home side as Knockaert breaks into a wide position before delivering low into the Everton box, but Keane is across to make the clearance. Dunk then has a penalty shout after smashing the ball into the body of Jagielka, but the referee is not interested!

It was actually Keane that blocked with his body, but the referee saw no handball in it.

Much better from Brighton in the last couple of minutes as they continue to deliver long balls into the Everton box, and the visitors do not look entirely comfortable. The crowd are up again here.

Little over 10 minutes until the break, and in truth, it has not been a great first period. Everton have shaded proceedings until this point, but Brighton have been better in the last couple of minutes. Murray, however, cannot seem to keep onside at the moment as he considers to drift.

Gross picks out Murray inside the Everton box, but Keane does well to make the clearance. That is much better from Brighton and particularly Gross, who delivered some quality from a wide area.

Gross has been involved in four of five Brighton's league goals this season, and we are just seeing some signs of the number 13 in the last few minutes. Everton's control of the ball has dropped off here as the hosts have some joy in the final third. Little over five minutes of the first period to play here.

So there we have it. The referee brings the first period to a close with the score level at 0-0. In truth, it has been a really poor first half of football. Everton have had the better moments, but neither side has done enough to deserve to be leading at this stage of the Premier League clash.

STATISTICS! Everton have shaded the possession with 55%, but the Toffees only hit the target with one of their five attempts in the first period. Brighton, meanwhile, failed to hit the target with any of their three attempts. Not a single yellow card to report - it has not been that type of match here.

BENCH WATCH! Everton boss Koeman does have a number of potential solutions on his bench this afternoon, with Davies, Klaassen, Mirallas and Niasse all available. Brighton, meanwhile, have options in the shape of Brown, Izquierdo and Schelotto. Something has to give in the second period.

... no changes from either side at the break, which is not too much of a surprise. However, I suspect that both managers will have alterations in mind as the second period develops here.

Not an awful lot to report in the early stages of the second half, with neither team finding any sort of rhythm. You do get the feeling that one goal could be enough to win this football match.

Half-chance for Everton as Vlasic dances into the Brighton box, but the attacker slips at the vital moment, and his effort is well wide of the post. Little over 30 minutes of the second period remaining here, and we are still level. It has been quite a rotten game of football to be honest.

Brighton just cannot get in the game in an attacking sense at the moment, and it would not be a surprise if Hughton was considering a change in the next few minutes here.

Rooney is receiving little service as Everton's forward, and you just wonder whether Niasse might be a better option in that area, with Rooney dropping a touch deeper. Brighton have the chance to deliver into the Everton box from a deep free kick, but Keane makes the clearance once again.

Duffy rises highest at the far post to meet another Brighton corner, but his effort was always wide of the post. Still no movement on either bench as we head for the final 25 minutes of football.

I am trying to be positive about this match, but it has been so incredibly poor. Brighton will be very comfortable with how things stand, but it would be another poor result for an Everton team that are struggling for solutions at the moment. Niasse, however, has livened things up in the final third.
