Chris Hughton: 'Brighton & Hove Albion motivated for last two games'

Chris Hughton does not believe that motivating his Brighton & Hove Albion players for their final two games of the season will be a problem.

Brighton & Hove Albion manager Chris Hughton has vowed that his players will give their all in a tough final week to the Premier League season.

The Seagulls head to Manchester City on Wednesday night before a trip to Liverpool at the weekend - teams boasting the best and fourth-best home records in the top flight respectively.

Hughton's men have little left to play for on the face of it, having reached the 40-point mark and sealed safety, but the former Birmingham City chief has insisted that motivation will not be an issue this week.

"We've found how difficult it is to stay in this division. It's relentless," he told reporters on Monday afternoon. "The quality that we've been up against week in, week out... We've got a group of lads that have equipped themselves really well. It's a nice feeling at the moment, but we want to finish the season well.

"You're playing against two of the best teams in the division, arguably the toughest two away games you can have, so that in itself is a great challenge. There won't be anybody you won't want to play or play well in these games.

"I'd like to think that the challenge is what will motivate players. We've managed to get some good results against the top six at home, and make them as close as possible away, so this is our challenge. I want us to be as good as we can in the games, but it's also to respect this division.

"We've got two very difficult games. We owe it to the club and to the players pushing hard to make the team - that's our biggest responsibility."

Only Stoke City have picked up fewer away points than Brighton's 11 this season, which have come from two wins, five draws and 10 defeats.
